So many bad things can happen in our lives.  I have been sitting here contemplating what makes my life not only good but wonderful.  The little things that make our lives good seem to be the things we take for granted the most.  I love the fact that my kids have a lot of the things that I could only dream of having when I was growing up. I love that they have lived in the same house all of their life and that they have family close by.

My family and I are living the good life.   My husband and I have lived in the same place for almost 20 years now. We live in the country where our kids can run free in the outdoors.  They have birds, rabbits, deer and other wild creatures right outside their windows.  We love to walk to the creek and just splash in the water for hours. Most of all we just enjoying doing things together.

I lost my dad (whom I later found out was my step dad) when I was 9 years old. My brother, who is 4 years older than me, and I grew up in a single parent home for most of our lives. Mom worked two jobs most of the time, and we had to fend for ourselves a lot.  Looking back now, I realize those were some wonderful times.  In the summer, we would leave our house in the morning and not come home until dinner time.  We spent those hours playing with the other neighborhood children, exploring and running wild and free.

My brother left home at the age of 15.  After that my mom and I moved around alot. The longest we ever lived in one place was around a year and the shortest was 3 months. When I was 14, she finally remarried and we stayed in one place for awhile. Two years late,r I met the wonderful man who is now my  husband.

Growing up the way I did has made me cherish the good life that I have now. I was determined that my kids would have an easier life. I wanted them to have a home and parents that they could count on the be there for them.  I praise The Lord everyday that my kids are able to live not just the good life, but a wonderful life!

The Allstate Good Life commercial below tells the story of how there are risks everywhere, but we as people don’t let it hold us back from making our lives good.  I think it is motivational for those who are scared to do something new as well.
